A short history of
the Belfast Interface Project 3.
2000 - 2004:
Following the consultation process outlined above, BIP’s
structure was changed in order to help BIP to become more
accountable, more inclusive and more effective in supporting
interface communities. b)
Management structure outline:
The project became an independent ordinary unincorporated
association in 2000, with charitable status (charity reg.
no: XR41089), managed by a management committee of fifteen
(max) people.
Belfast Interface Project, as a newly-formed membership
organisation, held its first Annual General Meeting in
November 2000. This was attended by representatives of
approx 25 interface community groups and the project’s
first management committee was elected. The management
committee aim to be representative of interface communities
in relation to gender, community and geographical balance.
The management committee have been democratically elected
by interface community groups/organisations which are
members of the project, with some spaces kept aside for
co-options to address any resulting imbalance in terms
of area, gender, issue.
