Strategic Plan: April 2006 – March 2008

Aim 1: To enhance and develop the knowledge base regarding Belfast's interface areas.

Objectives:
Create and annually update collections of interface-related material.
Identify & document areas of effective practice
Regularly update website information, resources and links.
Map NIO & residential interfaces.
Deliver 'Working with Diversity' module to University of Ulster.
Identify the support needs of Ethnic Minority communities living in interface areas of Belfast.
Update 'Inner East/Outer West' publication.

Aim 2: To lobby for change that is of practical benefit to interface communities.

Objectives:
Implement current lobbying plan.
Membership of Community Relations Council and other influential bodies.
Manage process of change wtih influential bodies.

Aim 3: To consult, develop and support the membership of Belfast Interface Project.

Objectives:
Deliver opportunities for peer support.
Continue to produce 'Interface News-sheet'.
Update membership information pack.
Develop individual, group & associate membership.
Hold conferences addressing critical Issues.
Evaluate and adapt BIP/CD project.
Identify further membership needs.

Aim 4: To support Interface communities in addressing conflict.

Objectives:
Support interface commmunities in developing and gaining access to crisis-response mechanisms.
Support and assist in the development of mobile phone networks.
Provide signposting services.
Provide a forum for informed debate on models of conflict transformation.
Continue to practice conflict management, reconciliation and transformation in communities.
Maximise levels of uptake of training and suport in the areas of 'addressing the legacies of the past' and 'developing conflict transformation skills'.
 
Aim 5: To manage Belfast Interface Project effectively and efficiently.
 
Objectives:
Update policies and procedures.
Ensure that management of finances is acountable and transparent.
Identify and secure premises that meet the needs of membership and staff.
Maintain regular monitoring and evaluation practices.
Identify and avail of appropriate training opportunities.
Deliver training to management committee and staff in: team-building, interface issues and lobbying skills.
Hold a regular Annual General meeting.
Maintain an effective staff team.
Maintain and develop organisational planning process.
