Criteria for membership of Belfast Interface Project

Group membership
Membership is open to community groups/organisations which fulfil all of the following criteria:
Have a constitution;
Are locally managed and locally accountable;
Are situated and active within one or more communities physically located at an interface between nationalist and unionist segregated communities (as outlined briefly in the appendix);
 
Are actively addressing one or more of the following issues within a context that recognises the need to build capacity both within and between interface communities as key elements within these tasks:
- social, economic and environmental disadvantage;
- intercommunity tension, intimidation and violence;
- restricted access to facilities and services perceived as being located within the ‘other’ community;

Associate membership
Membership will be invited from statutory, voluntary and funding organisations which:
Are actively seeking to meet needs within interface communities;
Have a remit that includes policy development in relation to interface areas;

Membership will be invited from individuals who:
Have demonstrated a commitment to both inter and intra-community capacity-building in addressing issues of concern in one or more interface areas;
